Open Question: FORD MUSTANG GOOD FOR ME??PLEASE ANSWER!?

Soo Im 18. Im a senior in highschool and Im ready for a car. Ive been looking around online and im in LOVE with MUSTANGS. I have my permit and still have to go take my driving test. Im pretty sure Ill pass. In the meantime im trying to convince my parents on buying me a ford mustang. I dont want a new one. Probably late 90's early 2000's. My parents are completely against it!!! They say it will waste too much gas and its not safe and insurance would be to high. They want me to get a Honda civic or an altima or something like that. So my question is would insurance be high?
